During Mental Health Awareness Month 2023, the California Mental Health Services Authority used out-of-home media as their visual voice to promote local events in LA County and to “Take Action” regarding your mental health.

CalMHSA’s use of vibrant, eye-catching graphics and a bold, extended drop-shadow effect draws you in.

Every format, from billboards to barricades and shelters, used consistent design elements deepening the public’s awareness of the message. For street-level bus shelters, where passersby and riders have time to pause, QR codes were included in the OOH advertisements.

Among many initiatives, CalMHSA is transforming community mental health through technical innovations, collaborating with all counties to share behavioral health strategies and addressing equity to better meet the needs of the most vulnerable populations.

Out-of-home media can be a powerful channel for public health initiatives and awareness campaigns, especially in reaching people offline.
